Mural realizado aquando a realização da sua exposição “L’art est union”, através da Associação Sete Sóis Sete Luas, no Centro de Artes e Cultura de Ponte de Sor em 2019.
Realizado em Foros de Arrão numa lógica de descentralização da arte, representa o moinho de vento de Foros de Arrão, bem como a produção de pão a ele associada. Tem também algumas representações da fauna e flora locais.

Held in Foros de Arrão in a logic of decentralization of art, it represents the windmill of Foros de Arrão, as well as the bread production associated with it. It also has some representations of the local fauna and flora.

Waroox

Bio – PT

Nasceu na Ilha da Reunião, em Saint-Leu, onde cresceu e passou a maior parte da sua vida jovem. O seu amor por viajar levou-o a pintar por toda a Europa, desde Paris até Portugal e passando também por Cabo Verde.

A sua paixão pela arte começou ao ver artistas crioulos do grafitti em ação, como Oner e Loizo.

No ensino secundário não tinha dúvidas de que queria, também ele, ser um artista. Conseguiu uma bolsa de estudo para a Austrália, que lhe permitiu alargar horizontes. Frequentava a universidade, descobriu a arte aborígene, teve “materclasses” com artistas internacionais durante a semana e aos fins de semana descobria a arte urbana na cidade com artistas locais.

Após 3 anos e meio conseguiu imergir na língua inglesa (que não falava ao início) e tornar-se bilingue. Adquiriu um gosto pessoal por arquitetura de interiores, design e moda.

Foi esta experiência em Perth que se tornou decisiva para o seu crescimento pessoal e que levou ao surgimento do artista “Waroox”. O “wa” remete para esta parte do mundo “Western Australia” (Austrália Ocidental) e o “roox” relacionado com a cor do seu cabelo, ruivo, diferenciando-o das outras pessoas.

De volta à Ilha da Reunião, passou um ano a preparar as suas primeiras exposições, colaborando com artistas locais. Depois deste entusiasmo inicial, a sua curiosidade e uma paixoneta levou-o a mudar-se para Paris.

Instalou-se em Aubervilliers, uma zona popular onde conseguiu levar a cabo os seus projetos criativos.

Desde grafitis a telas, bem como workshops e exposições, o seu trabalho foi admirado por um investidor do Dubai que o levou até ao Médio Oriente. Em 2013, montou uma exposição e no ano seguinte resolveu abrir a primeira galeria de arte urbana no Médio Oriente. Após imensas viagens que lhe permitiram estabelecer muitos contactos, tornou-se um autêntico artista.

Atualmente, vive em Bordéus e dá vários workshops e é lá que se sente “em casa”. Colabora com várias galerias e vai uma vez por ano à Ilha da Reunião para dar a conhecer a sua arte, experiências e nova ideias. Vê na arte uma forte aposta nesta ilha, onde a necessidade de abertura e descoberta é perpétua. Diz que regressará um dia definitivamente, mas por enquanto ainda tem muito para fazer e descobrir noutros lugares.

He is from Réunion, a native of Saint-Leu, where he grew up and spent three quarters of his young life of “not even” in thirty. Globetrotter at heart, he now paints all over Europe, from Paris, to Portugal, via Cape Verde.

His passion for art began when he was 13 when he saw graffiti addicted Creoles like Oner and Loizo in action. They fascinated him as much as the waves he could surf, from morning to night. From high school, He was determined to become an artist. He got a scholarship to Australia, to open his head and heart: university, discovery of Aboriginal art, master classes with international artists during the week, and discovery of urban life in through urban art on weekends with local artists.

Not speaking a word of English initially, after three and a half years in total immersion, he became bilingual and master of letters, words and color in the sense of graffiti. He also acquired a personal culture in interior architecture, design and fashion.

This experience in Perth was decisive in his personal construction, giving birth to the artist “Waroox”. The “Wa” of his name, comes from the initials of this part of the world, Western Australia, the “roox” sticking more to the color of his hair … red, already differentiating him from the others.

Back in Reunion Island, he spent a year preparing his first exhibitions, working in collaboration with local artists. After a certain enthusiasm, his curiosity, as well as a crush on a girl and for art, prompted him to settle in Paris.

Installed in Aubervilliers, a popular district, he found what he had come to seek, emulation and a beautiful material full of meaning, to carry out his creative projects.

From graffiti to canvas, from exhibition to workshops, his work is spotted by an investor from Dubai, allowing him to discover the Middle East. This is where he realized that there is magic in life. In 2013, they set up an exhibition and the following year he decided to open the first street-art gallery in the Middle East. After many travels, this allowed him to make many contacts, allowing him to become a full-fledged artist.

He now lives in Bordeaux, he have set up his workshop there and feel at home there. He collaborates with galleries and he come back once a year to Reunion to bring back the fruit of his art experiences, new ideas and his good humor. In his opinion, culture has become a safe bet in this island where the need for openness is perpetual. He will come back to settle there one day, but he still have things to do elsewhere.
